  • This water wheel is not original to the site, but was brought from _. One very much like it would originally have run the mill machinery. The wool industry was historically of vital importance across Wales, and indeed was the industrial mainstay of the country for many years. Once the centre of thriving industry in this area, this mill manufactured woollen cloth, blankets and items of clothing that were sold across the world.

  • Originally built in the early 19th century, and rebuilt following a devastating fire in the 1920s, this building housed the spinning machine and several of the looms. The spinning machine runs the whole length of this building, and would originally have been one of two, occupying the whole of the first floor. The wool industry was historically of vital importance across Wales, and indeed was the industrial mainstay of the country for many years. Once the centre of thriving industry in this area, this mill manufactured woollen cloth, blankets and items of clothing that were sold across the world.

  • Rebuilt following a devastating fire in the 1920s, this building housed the spinning machines, running the whole length of this building, and occupying the whole of the first floor. This image shows the lifting gear at the front of the building, used to lift wool for spinning up to the first floor, and the water wheel, which would originally have driven the mill machinery. The wool industry was historically of vital importance across Wales, and indeed was the industrial mainstay of the country for many years.   • The latest of the three buildings to be constructed, the weaving shed held the looms and other equipment involved in the weving process. Spun yarn from the South building was transferred and woven into several typical types of fabric, some of which was used on-site to make up shirts, stockings and blankets. Both fabric and garments were shipped worldwide.
