  • On September 15, 1865, the town of Trerawson (Welsh for Rawson's town) was officially founded by Colonel Julian Murga. The town was named after Dr Guillermo Rawson, the Argentine Minister for Home Affairs, who supported the establishment of a Welsh settlement in Patagonia.

  • Trerawson (Rawson today) was the town which developed near the first settlement in Caer Antur. Murga named the place 'Pueblo de Rawson' but the Welsh used the Welsh name, 'Trerawson'.

On the plan some of the original settlers' houses can be seen, such as R. J. Berwyn, J. M. Roberts and Abraham Matthews. It is worth noting how close these homes are to the River Camwy. The great flood of 1899 had a devastating effect on these houses and a number of the Welsh settlers lost all their property.

  • The lyrics of the national anthem of Argentina were written by Vicente Lopez y Planes and the music was composed by Blas Parera. There are numerous versions of the national anthem and this particular version, for four mixed voices, was arranged by William Jones (Gwaenydd). William Jones was one of the Welsh emigrants who travelled to Patagonia aboard the Mimosa in 1865.

  • In 1932 the River Camwy flooded causing the residents of the valley great distress. Welsh settlers' houses and property were damaged by the great flood and they had to seek refuge on higher ground with as many of their possessions as they could carry. This was not the first time the Welsh had experienced extensive flooding. There were several occasions in the past when the Valley had been under water. The floods in the winter of 1899 had disastrous consequences and it was not until the early 1960s, with the construction of the Florentino Ameghino dam, that the River Camwy (Chubut) could be controlled.
