The first house on this site was probably built by Richard Conwy early in the fifteenth century and Bodrhyddan is now the seat of his descendant, the Baron Langford. The house was remodelled on several occasions, most notably during the 1690s, when sash windows and a cupola were added, and again during the 1870s, when the architect W. E. Nesfield rebuilt the west front in a so-called Queen Anne style. Nesfield also added a formal garden to the south of the house.
