Fferm was probably built in 1607 and is one of the most remarkable houses in Flintshire. It has sandstone rubble walls with plain-chamfered, mullioned and transomed windows and parapet roofs. The house is L-shaped in plan; the hall on one side of the cross-passage with kitchen, pantry and stairs in the cross-wing, and each wing being heated by lateral fireplaces. The building is remarkable for a wealth of dressed-stone work including the ogee and four-centred, dressed-stone, ovolo-moulded doorways to the cross-passage, as well as dressed-stone fireplaces. Even more remarkable is the joinery, particularly the richly-moulded two-door post-and-panel partition between the hall and cross-passage.
