Daniel Horton Davies served with the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War and was captured by the Germans in 1918. He spent time in a prisoner of war camp in Altdamm, Germany, before being released following the end of the war.
This album includes photographs taken from inside the prisoner of war camp in which Daniel Horton Davies was held as well as telegrams and letters relating to his capture. Particularly moving is a letter sent from Daniel to his wife, expressing his joy on his release. Also included in the album are a number of letters sent to him on his return to Cardigan, including a letter from the King and Queen, welcoming him home.
