Wales has held a fascination for geologists for several centuries. The first trilobite to be illustrated in literature was collected here in 1698, and since then many famous geologists have had strong connections with Wales. This tradition has continued up to the present day. Each year, students from many British universities, along with professionals and interested amateurs, visit the country to learn about its geological past.
