Medieval Floor Tiles
This theme encompasses a number of tiles from around Wales dating from the thirteenth to the sixteenth centuries. The majority of the selection comes from Cistercian houses in Wales including Whitland, Tintern, Neath, Basingwerk and Strata Marcella. The tile designs include shields of arms (largely from Neath Abbey), flowers, birds and animals. Some tiles were evidently part of larger mosaic patterns.
