Leaflet advertising the Urdd youth camps of Llangrannog and Porthdinllaen, 1938 [image 1 of 9]
  • The Urdd camp at Glan Llyn, near Llanuwchllyn, was formally established in the early 1950s. Although the Urdd held a number of summer camps in the Llanuwchllyn area from the late 1920s onwards, it did not have a permanent camp in north Wales which corresponded to the camp established at Llangrannog in 1932. In 1949/50, however, the Urdd was given an opportunity to correct this imbalance when Glan Llyn, the former home of Sir Watkin Williams-Wynn, was acquired and turned into a permanent camp alongside Bala Lake.
