  • Richard Burton (born Richard Walter Jenkins) was born in Pontrhydfen on 10th November 1925. Following his education at Port Talbot Eastern Boy's School he went on to Exeter College, Oxford.  Although a regular stage actor in the 1940s and 50s, he is best remembered for his film career and marriage to the actress Elizabeth Taylor.  Richard Burton died in 1984.
