  • Their sentenced was reduced to one year's imprisonment in the County Gaol.

  • Bryn Meredith was a hooker who played for Newport and London Welsh.  He earned 34 caps for Wales between 1954 and 1962.

One of his greatest games was on the Lions' South African tour of 1955, when he was one of five Welshmen in the Lions' pack which took on and beat the South Africans in front of 95,000 people.

  • David Watkins was a fly-half who played for Newport and earned 21 caps for Wales between 1963 and 1967.

One of his best games was against Ireland in 1964 and his forty-yard break to score in that game was considered one of the most memorable tries ever seen.  

David Watkins turned professional soon after and was considered a serious loss to the Union game.

  • Clem Thomas was a wing-forward who played for Swansea, Coventry and Cambridge University.  He earned 26 caps as a flanker for Wales, between 1949 and 1959.

One of his greatest matches was against the Springboks during the 1951-52 season when he played for Swansea.

  • Keith Rowlands played for Cardiff and was picked 5 times for the Welsh team.  In 1966 he captained the Barbarian side and represented the British Lions on 19 occasions.

  • Delme Thomas played in the second-row for Llanelli and earned 25 caps for Wales between 1966 and 1974.

He competed for the Welsh shirt when there were many outstanding second-rows in Welsh Rugby and in addition he went on three Lions Tours.
