  • This account book for the Covent Garden Theatre in London mentions the first manager of the theatre, John Rich, the tragic actor Spranger Barry (1719-1777) and the dancer Giovanni Gallini (1728-1805). The volume was acquired by George Powell (1842-1882) who was brought up on the family estate of Nanteos, near Aberystwyth. John Powell, one of the proprietors of the first Covent Garden Theatre, was an ancestor of George Powell.
