  • These drawers were once used to store the various medicines at the chemist's shop in Llanberis.  They are now on display at the Quarry Hospital.

  • This fireplace in Dinorwig Quarry Hospital, which was built in 1860, is an example of the many uses of the slate that was excavated in the area.  It was also used as roofing, gravestones, steps and hearths.

  • This table was once situated in the main office of Dinorwig quarry, where the quarrymen received their wages and which overlooks the workshops in Gilfach Ddu, Llanberis.  Attached to the table is a button that was pressed to sound the alarm in case a disturbance broke out in the office.

  • This wicker stretcher was used to transport injured an quarryman down the rock face in Dinorwig quarry.  The body was secured with straps and a frame protected the head.  The bottles on each side of the stretcher were filled with warm water and strapped to the injured quarryman to keep him warm during the descent.

  • Despite the hospital's proximity, it sometimes took as long as an hour and a half to transport the injured quarryman from the rock face.  This stretcher made use of the railway tracks to transport the quarryman to the hospital, though it had to be carried down steep inclines.
