  • A group of workers from the Railway Foundry at Llanidloes pictured around 1919.  The foundry began in 1851 by making agricultural implements and machinery for the local lead mines, then moved close to the new railway when it reached the town in 1864.

  • Ceremony to mark the installation of a fine new organ at the China Street Calvinistic Methodist chapel in Llanidloes on 6 May 1896.  The Presbyterian church had been completed in 1873, and a choir of a hundred voices and a soprano vocalist celebrated the new addition of the organ.

  • This may have been part of a local show or competition, in view of the careful arrangement of the benches, and the lady with the flowers on the right.

  • A 'Wings for Victory Week' leaflet distributed in Montgomeryshire in 1943 to raise funds for the war effort.  The county was set a target of 527,000 in investments from the public to pay for 15 bomber aircraft and 60 fighters 'to carry the war to your enemies'.

  • An itemised bill dated 1903 with an engraving of the Humphreys Temperance Commercial Hotel in Cambrian Place, Llanidloes.  The bill is for provisions supplied by John Humphreys, wholesale and retail grocer and provisions merchant, baker and confectioner.

  • The front page of a rather worn leaflet issued in 1900 by the Llanidloes Workingmen's Institute and Library, which was established in the town in 1871.  This names those holding official posts connected with the Institute, which was housed in the upper floor of the Old Market Hall from 1897 until 1908.
