  • This photograph was taken at the balancing or overflow tanks at the Cowlyd Waterworks, Dolgarrog, in June 1902, during a visit by members of the Conway and Colwyn Bay Joint Water Board. The Board was established in the late 1890s in a bid to procure an independent and sufficient water supply for the rapidly developing towns of Colwyn Bay, Conwy and Degannwy. After considering a number of options, the Board decided upon a scheme to draw water from Llyn Cowlyd, high above Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley.
