  • Brecon Fire Brigade demonstrating their prowess with a hosepipe in the centre of Brecon around 1914. The occasion seems, unsurprisingly, to be irresistable to small boys. The double-decker bus in the background  was probably a very uncomfortable form of transport.

  • The 'Fire Queen' was purchased by Cardiff Corporation in 1912 and was berthed in the Glamorganshire Canal.  This photograph was copied from a photograph loaned to Cardiff Library by Captain D. E.  Jeffreys, in April 1979.
