Ebbw Vale blast furnace plant, 1914
  • Ironworking had been a feature of Ebbw Vale since the 18th century and, following a major rebuilding project in the late 1930s, Ebbw Vale steelworks became the first works in the country to integrate both iron and steel production. It closed in 1970, with many of the buildings in this photograph being demolished in 1979.
