In a match played at Wembley Stadium on 23 April 1927, Cardiff City FC beat Arsenal in the FA Cup Final. This was the first (and last) time that a Welsh team had won the coveted trophy. The victorious team was led by Cardiff-born Fred Keenor, who captained the Bluebirds through the 1920s and early 1930s. This was the second time that Keenor had played in the FA cup final: in 1925, Cardiff City lost to Sheffield United 1-0 at Wembley. Keenor had vowed to return to Wembley and fulfilled his dream in 1927, when the Bluebirds won the match against Arsenal 1-0 when Hughie Ferguson scored the decisive goal in the 73rd minute. This theme contains action photographs of the match itself, a copy of the match programme, as well as images of the post-match celebrations.
