Engraving of Knucklas railway viaduct, c. 1865

Engraving of Knucklas railway viaduct, c. 1865 An engraving of the elegant new railway viaduct at Knucklas on the Central Wales Railway, originally published in the Illustrated London News in the 1860s. The height of the structure, and of the Shropshire hills beyond, were somewhat exaggerated here by the Victorian artist, but nevertheless, it was one of a great many impressive achievements by Victorian engineers.
