  • Offa's Dyke was built in the eighth century, during the reign of Offa, King of Mercia (757-796). It is thought that Offa's intention was to establish the border of his Kingdom, and define the territory between Mercia and the Welsh. The Dyke runs for approximately 240 kilometres, from Treuddyn in Flintshire to the Bristol channel.
