  • This drain (launder) was found during excavation of a Bronze Age copper mine at Copa Hill, Cwmystwyth, during the 1990s.  Careful excavation and recording of the drain section in the laboratory at the National Museum & Gallery, Cardiff, revealed the toolmarks left by the axes that were used to hollow out this timber trunk, about 4000 years ago.
