  • Megan Lloyd George (1902-66) was the first Welsh woman to be elected as a Member of Parliament.  She became Liberal MP for Anglesey in 1929 and held the seat until 1951.  She later joined the Labour Party and represented Carmarthenshire from 1957 until her death.  She was the daughter of David Lloyd George.

  • Photographed by Geoff Charles.  Here, Lady Megan Lloyd George is seen presenting the petition to Goronwy Roberts, MP for Caernarfonshire.  In the background are Sir Ifan ap Owen Edwards, Elwyn Roberts, T. W. Jones MP, T. I. Ellis and Gwynfor Evans, President of Plaid Cymru.  The petition was signed by 240,652 individuals (about 14 per cent of the total Welsh electorate).

  • An article headed 'Newborough's Aspiration', concerning the demand for a new access road to Llanddwyn Island, which appeared in the press, 6 May 1938.  Megan Lloyd George, MP for Anglesey, gave the movement her support on a visit to Newborough.
