The Lido, Ebbw Vale, 1930s The Lido at Ebbw Vale was built in 1930 by unemployed men who volunteered for the task. It closed in 1961 to be replaced by an indoor swimming pool. Source: I. Williams, 'Then and Now: Ebbw Vale' (Stroud, 2000).
