Aerial photograph of early mine workings at Clydach Terrace, near Brynmawr, 1992

Aerial photograph of early mine workings at Clydach Terrace, near Brynmawr, 1992 This aerial view shows early mineral workings north of Brynmawr at Clydach Terrace. On the left-hand side of the photograph are early ironstone workings with, nearer the Heads of the Valleys Road (just visible in the top-right corner of the photograph), a mixture of ironstone and coal workings. The crescent-shaped trench between the two is the remains of early open mining along a five-feet coal seam. Source: Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales
