Three silver sentimental brooches (19th century)
Three silver sentimental brooches.
The brooch at the top of the image is a bar brooch, with ornamental plaque and Prince of Wales' feathers, with date: 28.6.99 [1899], length 4.5 cm; from Aberystwyth.
The second brooch is a silver horizontal plaque with lozenge and diamond shape, length 4cm, from Treorchy. It is decorated with scallops and leaves and was later inscribed 'Gwladys' - the brooch was a gift from mother to daughter [donor's sister] and was used to pin a fancy handkerchief onto a dress.
The third silver brooch is inscribed 'Cofiwch Fi' (Remember Me) and is hallmarked 1890, length 4 cm. The brooch was owned by sisters from Dowlais.
