The 'new' road bridge and the Old Bridge, Pontypridd, c. 1900

The 'new' road bridge and the Old Bridge, Pontypridd, c. 1900 Pontypridd's 'Old Bridge' was designed by William Edwards (1719-89) and completed in 1755. The 'new' three-arch bridge was designed by Thomas Jenkins in 1857 and provided a more practical means of crossing the river Taff.
