  • Pedigree of the Rice family of Newton and Dynevor, 1600.  The family was descended from Gruffudd ap Nicolas (fl. 1425-56), and reached its highest point of power and influence at the time of Sir Rhys ap Thomas (1449-1525) who was chief supporter of Henry VII.  In 1601 Walter Rice was MP for Carmarthenshire.  The family estates were in Carmarthenshire and Glamorgan.
