  • Pontypridd's Old Bridge was, for a time, the largest single span bridge in the United Kingdom. Its fame is illustrated by this postcard written to the USA, upon which the span is highlighted.  It was designed by William Edwards (1719-89) and completed in 1755.

  • Pontypridd's 'Old Bridge' was designed by William Edwards (1719-89) and completed in 1755.  The 'new' three-arch bridge was designed by Thomas Jenkins in 1857 and provided a more practical means of crossing the river Taff.
