  • The smack 'Jane' was commanded by Captain Thomas Morgan and after him by his son, David Morgan of Aberaeron.  In November 1907,  she went down off Mumbles point, a total loss, although David Morgan and his mate, Thomas Williams of Queen Street, were saved.  Earlier in the same year she had discharged a cargo of broken stones, for Cardiganshire County Council, at Aberaeron.

  • It is said that Captain William Jones (1857-1923) tried to sail round Cape Horn, but the weather was so bad that he turned around and sailed halfway around the world to reach his destination!
