Film: 'Dr Kate' (c. 1969)

Colour movie relating to the Welsh-language writer Dr Kate Roberts (1891-1985) held by The National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales.

This film includes views of Anglesey, footage of Dr Kate Roberts, assisted by Dr John Gwilym Jones (1904-88), bestowing her childhood home - 'Cae'r Gors' - on the nation and, lastly, a demonstration against Caernarfonshire Education Committee's proposal to close the village primary school, Ysgol Bryncroes, near Botwnnog, on the Llyn Peninsula. Four clips are shown here, showing footage of the ceremony at Rhosgadfan when Dr Kate Roberts bestowed her childhood home, 'Cae'r Gors', on the nation, and the demonstration against the closure of Ysgol Bryncroes.
